YouTube is getting a make over you might say.  Google who owns YouTube is shifting it’s strategy with the website and delivering more professional movie content to it’s viewers.  Since the beginning of YouTube most of the content is shot with cellphones or web cams and the quality has certainly got better as technology has increased but several production houses have sprung up to help create and distribute videos for the web.

With Google’s money and web presensce they are taking a stab at delivering the high quality video-streaming content that Netflix, Amazon and Blockbuster can provide.

“YouTube counts for the largest share of people’s home video-watching, but once people start watching more professional content on Hulu or Netflix, it quickly expands to become the predominant viewing and takes time away from YouTube,” said James L. McQuivey, a digital media analyst at Forrester Research.

The startup production companies — including Maker, Machinima, Mahalo, Vuguru and Next New Networks, which YouTube recently bought — try to help them.

They generally get talented video creators and assist them to make videos by providing the costumes, cameras and paychecks needed to make a more professional-looking video. Viewership is the key and with strategies like linking to their videos from other popular ones in the same network. YouTube sells ads and shares the revenue with the companies and creators.
