Univeral Picture has found it’s man for the Bourne Legacy film and the role goes to Jeremy Renner. Bourne Legacy directed by Tony Gilroywill star the Oscar nominated star for his work in The Hurt Locker and the The Town. The role that was formally played by Matt Damon will be supported by a new highly trained assassin played by Renner.  The role promises to provide a even more outlandish and dangerous performance than seen in the previous three Bournefilms and also leaves an opening for the very much alive Jason Bourne to return.

Rumors had spread about Renner being the pick and today Universe Pictures made the announcement.  Renner also played a role in the upcoming Mission impossible film and is rumored to take over this series also.  The film studio feels he is hitting a stride that will produce a big star with numerous strong performances.

Who else was in the running?  Joel Edgerton from The Thing and Dominc Copper from The Devil’s Double along with other stars from Tron (Garrett Hedlund)  and Luke Evans from The Amateur American.  All of these names in the hate but the picture goes to Jeremy Renner.  Other actors names in the mix includedShia LaBeouf and James McAvoy but they were probably busy with their own endeavors.

Although we don’t have details on the plot you can imagine that the same action packed thriller that occured in the first three films will continue into this one.  Fans seem to be fine with a new super assassin in Renner as long as Damon isn’t replaced in the series.
