Can You Hear Me on Your iPhone? Good!

January 25, 2011 | cell phones, Technology

Last week’s announcement about the coming Verizon iPhone came as a surprise to no one who hasn’t been living under a rock for the last few weeks. There have been rumors about an iPhone for Verizon for over a week, with the speculation reaching a boiling point in the last few months.

Now that the official launch has been announced, what is Verizon going to do to meet the demands that data-loving iPhone users will put on it’s capacity? If they launch and end up with bad publicity due to poor service like AT&T did, the launch could be a dud.

It looks like Verizon customers who intend on purchasing the prized smartphone can breath easy. Chief Financial Officer Fran Shammo has promised that Verizon learned from AT&T’s mistakes and will have a flawless launch in February.

Of course, this could all just be bold talk coming from a CFO who wants to quiet the rumors that Verizon’s servers may not be ready for what is expected to be a heavy and immediate demand once their version of the phone goes on sale. But, whether you believe Shammo or not, the only way to know if Verizon truly has learned from the mistakes of their biggest competitor is to wait and see.
