The flu season has swamped the urgent care clinic at Kingman Regional Medical Center, where more than 200 patients have been treated for flu-like symptoms in the last three weeks.

They include limiting the age of visitors to 18 and older, media relations manager Kim Waterman stated in an email.

"Yes", she said. "We're seeing a significant increase in patients and outpatients with flu-related illnesses".

Individuals should seek help from the closest emergency room if they have these symptoms: difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, chest pain or severe abdominal pain, confusion, sudden dizziness or severe vomiting. "You can still get the flu, no vaccine is flawless".

"It's never too late to get the flu shot, since an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure", de Lota said.

"It's too early to know if the spike we are now experiencing will translate into a peak for the season", she said.

But, now, with the Apex Court deciding to revisit its decision, there is a renewed hope among the members of the LGBT community . Senior lawyer Harish Salve on Monday said that section 377 of IPC will soon be struck down by the apex court.

But people should still get the flu shot, she said, because it offers protection against multiple strains.

"The virus we're giving them is dead, it's virtually impossible to get the flu from a vaccine", de Lota said. "It's always the best defense against the flu and to protect yourself, your family and those around you".

Rodriguez said H3N2 influenza disproportionately affects the elderly, and encouraged older residents to be careful.

"Its very important for people who are sick to be able to stay home", said Barbara Ferrer, director of the county Department of Public Health. That compares to 13 at the same time past year.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said the 2017-2018 flu season in OH is comparative to that in 2014-15, which was the most severe flu season in recent years. In Ohio, adult deaths believed to be associated with the flu aren't required to be reported to public health agencies. However, some have chronic health problems and the flu can lead to complications ranging from moderate to life-threatening. It can cause mild to severe illness, and at times can lead to death.

Health officials locally and statewide said people who experience flu symptoms - fever, chills, sore throat, muscle aches, headaches or nasal congestion - should contact their doctor.
