Tiger Woods described his
latest comeback as "great" after carding a three-under-par 69 to sit handily placed following the opening round of the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas.

Woods captivated the golf world by tallying birdies on three of his first four holes and making eagle at the par-5 9th to shoot 5-under 31 on the front nine.

The solid effort, which included an eagle, four birdies and two bogeys, left the former world number one at seven-under 137 in his first tournament in almost 10 months following spinal fusion surgery.

"It was fun to get out there and actually be part of a scorecard again". "I've been playing a lot of holes at home but it's different when you are in a tournament".

Much like Tiger Woods' kids, the young and upcoming lot of world golf has only seen the 14-time major victor compete on television or Youtube.

That was cancelled out by a bogey on nine, but further birdies on 10, 13 and 14 thrust him into contention before a wild tee shot on 15 led to a second bogey of the day. I had to dial it back a bit. In previous returns, Woods could be seen holding back or showing signs of pain. Woods dropped a few shots with poor chips around the green, but most of the field also struggled with the tough bermuda lies here at Albany.

Fleetwood is making his first start in the 18-man tournament and will look to cap his breakthrough season with another victory before getting married on Tuesday.
