  • Lady in red The Grammy-winning singer's live performance in Times Square on New Year's Eve 2016 was marred by a myriad of issues during the live television show seen on Wednesday

The music superstar will no doubt be very prepared for the upcoming gig, after last year's complications, where sound problems plagued the concert, beginning with her take on the New Year's Eve classic Auld Lang Syne.

Now, both sides have kissed and made up. Carey wound up walking around the stage without singing in what can only be described as a meltdown.

Words flew afterwards with Carey saying that her show had been sabotaged by ABC, citing an unsatisfactory run through earlier in the day.

Carey should be a huge ratings lure, because last year's performance was so widely discussed.

ABC announced Friday that Carey will sing during "Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve" after her infamous performance at the 2016 event. Actress-comedian Jenny McCarthy will be stationed in Time Square.

For those who don't remember, Mariah Carey performed on the program past year just before midnight, taking the stage for possibly the most disastrous performance of her career. Mariah is a singer/songwriter/producer recognized with multiple Grammy Awards, 21 American Music Awards, Billboard's "Artist of the Decade" Award, the World Music Award for "World's Best Selling Female Artist of the Millennium", and BMI's "Icon Award" for her outstanding achievements in songwriting, to name a few - with her distinct five-octave vocal range, prolific songwriting, and producing talent, Mariah is truly the template of the modern pop performance.

"Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin'?Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2018" is produced by dick clark productions with Ryan Seacrest, Allen Shapiro and Mike Mahan serving as executive producers and Barry Adelman and Mark Bracco as co-executive producers.

The latest New Year's Eve celebration will also feature pop singer Nick Jonas and the former Fifth Harmony vocalist Camila Cabello, whose debut solo album is one of the most anticipated releases of early 2018.

Days after the performance went viral, Carey told Entertainment Weekly she was "mortified", though she had previously tweeted "s-t happens" as her name started rising up the ranks of Twitter and Facebook.
