The Sabrina the Teenage Witch comics have found a new home at Netflix.

Now, as any Riverdale fan knows, outbrooding Jughead Jones is an extremely tall order, but, having read the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina comic ... yeah, she's definitely up to it.

The new show, written by Archie Comics Chief Creative Officer and RIVERDALE Showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, will be directed by Lee Toland Krieger, and produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Brothers Studios.

The project started as a pilot in development for The CW for next season.

Based on Netflix's track record with comic adaptations and great original shows, this series has the potential to become an excellent series with a fresh take on the supernatural teen drama. So, when will the Sabrina reboot be on Netflix?

“Riverdale” Sabrina the Teenage Witch Spinoff Moves From The CW to Netflix

Netflix's Sabrina is described as "in the vein of Rosemary's Baby and The Exorcist and finds Sabrina wrestling to reconcile her dual nature as a half-witch, half-mortal while fighting the evil forces that threaten her, her family and the daylight world humans inhabit", according to the Hollywood Reporter.

In the introduction to Chilling Adventures' original collected edition, Aguirre-Sacasa said this of the comics' tone: "If Afterlife with Archie was about Lovecraft and zombies and body horror, Sabrina would be more psychological, a bit more subtle (but only a bit), a bit more sexual (as stories about witches often are)".

This version of Sabrina the Teenage Witch won't have much in common with the previous television incarnation of the character. The character had her own live-action sitcom starting in 1996, with Melissa Joan Hart in the role. The second season will then be shot from June to October. No word on when the show will arrive on Netflix, but filming is expected to begin in February 2018.

This new show will run for at least two seasons, and will be set in the same universe as "Riverdale", meaning that it's not impossible for characters from the hit show to turn up to get in Sabrina's way periodically. Netflix recently partnered with Millarworld to publish comics, which, in turn, gives Netflix the rights to adapt those stories into shows and movies.
