  • Adam Schiff Shreds Don Jr. For Refusing To Say What His Dad Knows About Secret Russia Meeting

Donald Trump Jr.is headed to the Senate Judiciary Committee today where behind closed doors, far from the ears of the American public, he's going to testify about his involvement in the possible collusion with Russian Federation that occurred during the Donald Trump campaign.

Rep. Adam SchiffAdam Bennett SchiffTrump Jr. set for high-stakes interview with House intel panel Comey back in the spotlight after Flynn makes a deal Schiff: Flynn plea "very significant" MORE (D-Calif.) is challenging Trump Jr.'s reasoning, saying Trump Jr. can not apply attorney-client privilege and "shield" lawmakers from this conversation between father and son just because an attorney was present in the room.

But Trump Jr. told lawmakers Wednesday there were lawyers present during the conversation at issue.

"In my view, there is no attorney-client privilege that protects a discussion between father and son", Schiff said.

Congressional investigators have uncovered emails that indicate parties involved in the June 2016 meeting at Trump Tower had subsequent communication after their summit, CNN reported Thursday. Because yesterday Natalia Veselnitskaya, the lawyer that Donald Trump Jr. met with in June of 2016, testified in a letter to the Senate Judiciary Committee that Donald Trump Jr. met with her with the explicit intent of getting dirt from her on Hillary Clinton.

Harmon did contest that when it comes to Woods, no one can rule out anything. The major story this week was Tiger Woods' latest return to golf.

But according to CNN, the Veselnitskaya meeting, and how the White House tried to explain it away as a discussion about United States adoption of Russian orphans, was one focus of the questioning. Trump, Jr. wasn't even on the plane, he was talking to his father through Hope Hicks, to whom Trump the Elder was dictating the statement.

The conversations that Trump Jr. may have had with his father after the June 2016 meeting are of interest to investigators primarily due to the fact that the younger Trump went into this meeting on the presumption that the Russian lawyer he would be meeting with had connections to the Russian government and that the goal of the meeting was to discuss potentially damaging information about Hillary Clinton. In the meantime, Schiff said, the lawyers have asked for more time to decide how to handle the claim.

Over on MSNBC in the previous hour, fellow House Intel Democrat Eric Swalwell said Trump Jr.

Goldstone set up the meeting on behalf of his client, Russian pop star Emin Agalarov, whose father, Aras, is a Russian real estate mogul with ties to Russian President Vladimir Putin. Schiff says he doesn't believe attorney-client privilege protected the conversation. If none of the parties are attorneys then there is obviously no privilege.

In the end, this is a matter that would have to be resolved by the courts, assuming that either the committee or special counsel Mueller want to pursue the matter. "In this instance, both Trump and Trump Jr. are subjects of the same investigation and any legal advice they received on these topics would potentially implicate the other person".
