Google and Amazon Fight Removes Streaming Access From Echo Show

  • Google Starts Blocking YouTube on Fire TV, Echo Show

That includes Amazon Fire tablets, as Google hasn't threatened to block those yet. As a result, and because Amazon does not carry Google devices such as Google Home, Chromecast, or Nest devices, it has pulled YouTube from the Amazon devices. Google has now blocked access for that version as well, and the company will soon pull support for the much more popular Fire TV, Amazon's streaming media player.

According to the data from research firm eMarketer, Amazon's voice-controlled devices have been outsold Google's devices.

There were also reports that Google could be creating a smart screen device to compete with the Amazon Echo Show. It's understandable that Google is frustrated by Amazon using its service but not selling its products, but pulling YouTube from Amazon's devices means that Google is making it harder to use YouTube on Amazon's hardware.

Google's referring to the fact that Amazon doesn't sell the Chromecast and Google Home, doesn't make Prime Video available to Google Cast users, and stopped selling subsidiary Nest's products last month. In its own statement, Seattle-based Amazon said its gadgets now send users to the YouTube website, and the company hopes to resolve the dispute as soon as possible.

Quake detected near North Korea nuclear site
The Hwasong-15 is believed to have reached the highest altitude ever recorded by a North Korean missile. With every missile launch or nuclear test, Kim has improved his country's capabilities, McMaster said.

At issue is a perceived lack of "reciprocity" with Amazon failing to offer equal access to Google's products and services, prompting the dramatic rebuke. The latter action takes effect on January 1st, 2018.

You'll still have ways to watch YouTube service if it disappears from Amazon's Fire TV streaming device.

An Amazon spokeswoman said, " Google is setting a disappointing precedent by selectively blocking customer access to an open website".

"Internet companies, innovative startups, and millions of internet users depend on these common-sense protections that prevent blocking or throttling of internet traffic, segmenting the internet into paid fast lanes and slow lanes and other discriminatory practices", a blog post by the company reads. "And it should stay that way".
