  • BREAKING: Christmas market EVACUATED as 'bomb found' – armed police on scene

It was not immediately clear what became of the device, which German media say was delivered to a pharmacy, beyond the fact that it had not exploded or hurt anybody.

Police in the city of Potsdam said the package did not appear to include any parts for detonation, but wires and a firecracker without a fuse were found inside the cylindrical object. Potsdam police said it was too soon who may have been responsible.

As German authorities brace for another possible attack, the popular Christmas market in Potsdam was evacuated after a suspicious package containing wires and electronics.

The suspicious object was delivered to a pharmacy in the area and measured 40 cm by 50 cm, it has been reported.

Brandenburg state Interior Minister Karl-Heinz Schroeter told reporters the powder will be analyzed.
