In 2013, a woman punched a Salvation Army bell ringer outside an Arizona Walmart for saying "Happy Holidays" instead of "Merry Christmas".

Volunteers at The Salvation Army were not only busy Friday, Dec. 22, preparing for the donation match tomorrow, they were helping out parents shop for their children for Christmas.

Last year, The Salvation Army provided over 2.4 million meals and helped almost half a million MA residents in need. "This is a wonderful season as we are able to help so many families have a wonderful Christmas".

"It's really saddening that one of our bell horingers would be out there working day after day for us that's met with hate and punches to the face and kicks to the face", Pavlakis said.

A fundraising goal of $90,000 in Sherwood Park was part of a bigger-picture pitch to raise $600,000 throughout the entire Edmonton region.

They're looking to feed about 6,000 people.

"Each year, the citizens of MA make it possible for us to help support those in need, we are asking that they give generously to ensure service delivery is maintained again this year".

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh is urging people all over the state to give the kettles a boost if possible.

Major Dean Locke of the Burlington Salvation Army said that $200,000 had been raised as of Tuesday (Dec. 19).
