The pilot is meant to help prevent "revenge porn", or having intimate images shared across the social network without the owner's permission.

The world's biggest social media platform Facebook is asking users to send the company their nude photos. Stamos is using the abbreviated form of "non-consensual intimate image", more colloquial known as revenge porn.

In a trial in Australia, Facebook asked people anxious that their intimate pictures might be posted by an ex partner to provide the images to Facebook, so that it knows to prevent them being uploaded in future.

"They're not storing the image".

A Facebook spokesman told the Telegraph: This is an initial pilot in Australia.

Warning issued over Netflix phishing scam which has targeted millions worldwide
The email looks like it's from Netflix and claims the users account with the streaming service will be canceled, Mailguard warned .

Facebook will get noticed by this and they will make the image matched using their image-matching technology and this will lead to a tag over the image with which no one can share that image. "The safety and well-being of the Facebook community is our top priority", Facebook's Head of Global Safety Antigone Davis said.

Users are encouraged to send intimate photos to Facebook, who will put a unique digital fingerprint on it before it is sent to the recipient. Facebook says it won't store the photos.

But that still requires human workers and human eyes on the sensitive images.

"Once we hash the photo, we notify the person who submitted the report via the secure email they provided to the eSafety Commissioner's office and ask them to delete the photo from the Messenger thread on their device", Davis writes. However, a "specially trained representative from [Facebook's] Community Operations team" does need to first review the image before hashing it. "Once they delete the image from the thread, we will delete the image from our servers". It used this to prevent the image spreading and closed down the majority of accounts reported to it as hosting such images.
