  • Sponsors Are Pulling Their Ads From Hannity's Show In Response To His Roy Moore Coverage

After #BoycottKeurig started trending on Twitter over the weekend, the coffee machine company's CEO Bob Gamgort has expressed regret in an email to employees obtained by The Washington Post.

On Friday, Angelo Carusone, the president of Media Matters for America, a watchdog group that has previously organized advertiser boycotts of Hannity's show, tweeted Keurig about sponsoring Hannity.

He interviewed Alabama Republican Senate candidate Roy Moore about claims he assaulted a 14-year-old girl.

Roy Moore has been accused of sexual misconduct with a 14 year old girl when he himself was 32.

Four other companies said they would stop running their ads on the Fox show, without explaining their decision. Many Twitter users reached out to the company to request it nix the ads, saying that Hannity defended Moore, who has been accused by women of inappropriate sexual behavior when they were minors. On a second visit, he took off her shirt and trousers and removed his clothes except for his underwear before touching her over her bra and underpants, Corfman told the Post. It's "He said, she [said]", Hannity said on his radio show last Thursday.

Besides the coffee machine maker, E-trade, Realtor.com, 23 and Me, Eloquii and Nature's Bounty have all pulled their advertising from Fox's "Hannity".

"While we continually strategize on where we advertise on and offline, we are not now, and will not be running TV ads on Hannity", the company wrote in a tweet, tagging Media Matters' Twitter handle to make sure the activists saw it.

On his radio show that day, Hannity and his executive producer Lynda McLaughlin said some of the accusers said their encounters were "consensual". "And there's, I just, I don't know how you find out the truth". Though Hannity walked back his remarks (somewhat), the damage was already done and his show lost a few advertisers, including Keurig, the coffee-maker company known for it's individual K-cup pods.

In response to Carusone, Keurig tweeted Saturday, "Angelo, thank you for your concern and for bringing this to our attention". During a speech in September 2016, Clinton said, "You could put half of Trump's supporters into what I call the basket of deplorables".

Meanwhile, Moore has said the allegations against him are "fake news", and that a lawsuit will be filed over the Washington Post report that detailed alleged incidents. Right now we are #BoycottKeurig Send emails, call and/or post on their Twitter TL.

Nevertheless, Hannity's defense of Moore sparked social media backlash, and advertisers responded to complaints by vowing not to appear on his Fox News show.
