A Los Angeles radio host accused Senator Al Franken, a Democratic senator from Minnesota, of kissing and groping her during a 2006 USO tour in the Middle East. She wrote that it occurred in December 2006, not long before Christmas, when she was a performer for the tour alongside Franken, then a well-known comedian.

Tweeden said Thursday that she was afraid to speak out when the incident happened out of fear of losing her job, explaining why she made a decision to come out with the allegations now.

Tweeden also said Franken groped her while she slept during their flight home on a military plane.

"I certainly don't remember the rehearsal for the skit in the same way, but I send my sincerest apologies to Leeann", Franken said in a statement provided to the Guardian.

Tweeden said at the press conference that she accepted Franken's apology, adding that she "wasn't looking for anything" from the allegations, such as a resignation from Franken. "I shouldn't have done it". A copy of the photo is posted with the article. "I'm not asking for him to step down for senator. if someone else calls for that, but that's not what I'm asking".

Tweeden said the surge of people coming forward with their own experiences of sexual harassment or assault encouraged her to go public with her account about Franken. "He groped me, without my consent, while I was asleep", Tweeden wrote. "I think the tide is turning, and what about all the women who don't have microphones and a voice and can say something and it's all over the news?"

"I hope and expect that the Ethics Committee will fully investigate this troubling incident, as they should with any credible allegation of sexual harassment", he said.

"Al Franken admits guilt after photographic evidence of his abuse surfaces". "Then she reached down and started rubbing my crotch and within just five or ten minutes, my cock was again hard and ready for action".

Tweeden says she felt "disgusting and violated" and walked off to the bathroom to wash her mouth out.

Tweeden credits an interview with California Congresswoman Jackie Speer during which Speer recalled being sexually assaulted when she was a young political aide.

On Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) called on the Senate Ethics Committee to review the allegations against Franken. And they deserve to know that I am their ally and supporter. Tweeden wrote in an online essay that Franken insisted on rehearsing a skit that included a kiss between the characters, and that he forced his tongue into her mouth.

Franken publicly apologized to Tweeden, but said he did not remember the kissing scene practice the same way she did. There's no excuse. I look at it now and I feel disgusted with myself.
