Al Franken accuser says she believes his apology is 'heartfelt'

A Los Angeles radio host accused Senator Al Franken, a Democratic senator from Minnesota, of kissing and groping her during a 2006 USO tour in the Middle East. She wrote that it occurred in December 2006, not long before Christmas, when she was a performer for the tour alongside Franken, then a well-known comedian.
Tweeden said Thursday that she was afraid to speak out when the incident happened out of fear of losing her job, explaining why she made a decision to come out with the allegations now.
Tweeden also said Franken groped her while she slept during their flight home on a military plane.
"I certainly don't remember the rehearsal for the skit in the same way, but I send my sincerest apologies to Leeann", Franken said in a statement provided to the Guardian.
