  • Bomb blast at mosque during prayers – FBI probe after 'device hurled through window'

Police in Bloomington, Minnesota, were called at 5:05 a.m. CDT (1005 GMT) about an explosion at the Dar Al Farooq mosque, after a bomb was thrown through the window of the imam's office while worshipers were gathered for morning prayers.

In midafternoon, the FBI released a statement saying that it is spearheading the investigation.

The explosion appears to have happened in the imam's office and it woke neighbors in the area.

The FBI and the United States Bureau of Alcohol, Tabacco, Firearms and Explosives are assisting in the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bloomington Police at 952-563-4900.

One worshipper saw a pickup truck speeding away afterward, said Mohamed Omar, the center's executive director.
