One minute we think the DC Extended Universe is continuing to movie forward nicely, the next chaos erupts as rumours circulate of cancelled projects and actors getting the boot. In the July interview, Reeves described the film as a "standalone...not part of the extended universe". "Batman will be BATMAN... That it wouldn't be filled with cameos servicing other stories - that it would be a BATMAN story", he said.

The film is now being written by Reeves, and production should be underway in 2018 with Ben Affleck part of the movie as the lead of Batman/ Bruce Wayne. That includes the current pics released and in production that feature Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, among other characters who collectively form the Justice League. The Batman is set to be one of the biggest movies in the DCEU so far, with fans eager for an entire film focusing on Affleck's new version of the beloved character.

Reports claim that Warner Bros.' rumored Joker movie will take the place of Gotham City Sirens in the DC Extended Universe. Still, the clarification is hard to square with statements that the movie is "not part" of the universe. While fans might assume this was Matt's idea, a way of making the project something of his own, the director says Warner Bros. presented him it. Batman is the coolest character in any universe - DC, Marvel and I'm so thrilled to do it. If Ben Affleck really is hanging up his cape and cowl, then it's a logical jump to assume that the new incarnation of Batman won't be part of the same universe that Ben Affleck's Batfleck just left.

Qatar hits out at Saudi's restrictions on Haj flights
On Sunday, Saudi Arabian Airlines said that it has not been able to schedule flights from Doha's Hamad International Airport. Makkah that draws millions of pilgrims on regular basis is considered one of the holiest cities in Islam.

He said: "I think there's a chance to do an nearly noir-drive, detective version of Batman that is point of view driven in a very, very powerful way that is hopefully going to connect you to what's going on inside of his head and inside of his heart". It's also in line with Warner Bros.' old mantra of letting a director with a distinctive vision take the reins on a superhero movie - though they've walked back on that since Suicide Squad bombed with critics and executives. What he meant was that the movie will be standalone in the sense that it won't be bogged down with cameos and plot points that are intended to set up future movies.

I suppose we'll see how all of this pans out when The Batman opens in theaters in 2019.

Examining Reeves comments after the news got people thinking: Would The Batman exist within this new banner? In The Hollywood Reporter's story on the Joker/Harley Quinn project, they caused confusion with an error stating "The Batman" would not be aort of the DCEU and would cast a new actor.
