Officials say they're encouraged by signals from North Korea that it was pulling back from any imminent threat to launch missiles at the United States territory. -South Korean military exercises that enrage the North each year could make diplomacy even more hard.

The United States and South Korea have prepared for more joint military drills, which has infuriated the North, and experts warned Pyongyang could still go ahead with a provocative plan.

"I am not anxious because the U.S. is really capable of taking good care of us".

The U.S. Department of Defense is now reviewing a request by the Republic of South Korea to allow it to develop more powerful ballistic missiles amidst rising tensions over North Korea's growing military capabilities.

Kim was pictured for the first time in weeks last night, examining plans for a strike on American military targets in Guam.

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson said after Kim postponed the threat that Washington remains ready for talks.

Gov. Eddie Baza Calvo said Monday it's business as usual in Guam, with no change of threat levels.

It may be noted that the island of Guam is closer to North Korea than the United States.

Lobbing missiles toward Guam would be a deeply provocative act from the USA perspective.

"Our government will put everything on the line to prevent another war on the Korean Peninsula", Moon said.

North Korea's announcement provoked strong condemnation from not only the U.S. but also Japan, over whose mainland the missiles would have to fly to reach Guam.

Earlier, he met with South Korean President Moon Jae-in at Osan Air Base, a U.S. Air Force base about 40 miles south of Seoul. The liquid-fuel missile is created to be fired from road mobile launchers and has been previously described by North Korea as built for attacking Alaska and Hawaii.
