Is the Night King a Greenseer?

In episode 6, Jon and his group were encircled and attacked by the White Walkers and their Specter Army.

Perhaps the Night King's plan to break down the Wall (and its magic, even more importantly) depends on getting a wight across, and he knows exactly what he's doing?

"The Dragon and the Wolf", the finale of Game of Thrones' seventh season, airs August 27 at 9 p.m. on HBO. It's far more likely that there's more to the Night King's ability to control such an impressive force.

The White Walkers have similar but weaker powers compared to those of the Night King, and have been shown to be more susceptible to weapons like dragonglass and fire. White Walkers are an ancient race of ice creatures created thousands of years ago when the Children of the Forest-specifically Leaf-drove a shard of dragonglass through the heart of one of the First Men.

More evidence that suggests the spot where the Night King killed Viserion wasn't mere coincidence - as a Greenseer, he'd have been able to foresee both the dragons coming and the spot with the chains and the ice lake (so Viserion would be submerged and unable to be burned by Jon Snow and company) as the flawless confluence of factors in procuring an ice dragon.

Our own (joyously, unashamedly crackpot) interpretation of the scene is that, while the "kill the Night King, kill his army" theory may indeed prove to be the case, it'll come complete with its own tragic catch.

The Night King is a major character on Game of Thrones, but who is he? But would killing him do more than just eliminate a lot of wights?

If when the dead finally get to the Wall we see a wight or White Walker touch it and explode, this is what we'll expect to happen. The first time, he'll instruct the Mad King to manufacture wildfire and save it beneath King's Landing, but we all know what happens to that.

Turm0il26 argues that Bran, aware of the death and destruction the White Walkers bring to Westeros, decides to travel back in time to stop The Night King. It makes a lot of sense story-wise, especially the part where Bran has been completely useless this season.

The White Walkers were able to get past the magic of the Three-Eyed Raven's lair after the Night King touched Bran in a vision. But clearly the White Walkers weren't wiped out then-they merely retreated.

The strength of the army of the dead comes from their massive numbers and lack of fear. If the life of an individual White Walker determines the existence of individual wights, might the life of the Night King determine the existence of White Walkers? It's hard to imagine an army of men being able to match the fire power of a dragon. Although, this season has been fond of doing just that, so this might be more plausible than we want.
