SC police officer Quincy Smith was shot multiple times by a suspect he was attempting to question, and the entire dramatic, shocking encounter was captured on a tiny camera in the officer's glasses.

Harrowing footage has emerged of a U.S. policeman being shot at point blank range on New Year's Day 2016 by a gunman who fired four times into the officer's neck, arm and torso.

The officer's camera glasses, which he bought off Amazon, captured the moment he was hit and his desperate plea to an emergency dispatcher, asking them to tell his family that he loved them, as he lay bloody waiting for help.

Orr, 29, of Hampton County, was convicted Wednesday of attempted murder and possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Orr received maximum sentences.

"I take it day by day with the support of friends and family and everybody else", Smith said.

Officer Quincy Smith was shot four times after he was deployed to a suspicious person call.

Body camera footage that was shown to the jury showed Smith running from Heaggan-Brown on foot and climbing over a fence as he was shot two times. Smith asks him to "come here" again, to no avail.

Amazingly, despite suffering two broken arms and a "life-threatening injury", he survived.

Orr turned towards Smith and opened fire, eight rounds total. "He was just walking away, but unfortunately I made a mistake ... and he got the upper hand", the officer said.

A witness then comes to the officer's aid and assures him that help will arrive soon.

"Dispatch, I'm hit! Dispatch, Echo 7, I'm hit!" I've been shot in the neck'.

"If but not for the grace of God and some very good doctors, this would not only have been a murder case, but a death penalty case", 14th Circuit Solicitor Duffie Stone said in a statement.

At that point, the video shows Orr quickly drawing a 9mm handgun and firing multiple times - even as he kept the cellphone to his ear with his other hand.

However, Smith suddenly noticed the man put his hand in the pocket that suggested that he was carrying a weapon.
