The first victim to be named was Mohammed Alhajali, a 23-year-old Syrian refugee who came to the United Kingdom three years ago after fleeing the war in Syria with his brother Omar.

His brother Omar broke down in tears as he told of how Mohammed got trapped in the burning block as they both tried to flee their 14th floor flat.

His older brother Omar, a 25-year-old business student, was taken to hospital after escaping the blaze.

He died in the tragic Grenfell Tower fire in West London on June 14th, along with other residents of the tower.

Thousands of pounds have been raised in a funeral fund set up for one of the first victims to be named from the Grenfell Tower fire.

"Least I could do is to see his body before they bury him".

He added: "Mohammed spoke to Omar and asked to put him through to mum".

When Off offered her condolences to Almashi for his friend's death, he replied: "If I tell you we're used to it as Syrians, would you believe that?"

"I've tried to apply for a visa for my nan in Syria - appealed and appealed and got no response", she said.

Mohammad al-Haj Ali, 23, was trapped inside his flat for two hours after being separated from brother Omar during the inferno, telling him on the phone: "I'm dying, I can not breathe".

Mr Alhajali studied civil engineering at the University of West London. We think it will never happen to us.

So far more than £3m has been raised to help the Grenfell victims, while contributions of food, water, clothes and shelter have also poured in.

Mr Alhajali was among 17 people confirmed to have been killed in the blaze.

"She was with a group of people in the fire escape, in the fire stairs, they live on the 20th floor", said Ruiz, while appealing for information. I said "Why you didn't come, they brought us outside, I thought you were with us". "I just sat there and thought, 'That could be me in there, ' " he said, "And what would anyone do to stop it?"

People who knew Mohammed Alhajali and those who worked with him at the Syrian Solidarity Campaign described him as a very nice man.
