But, if Scott, Corcoran and Negron now agree on keeping Visit Florida's funding at its current $76 million, where was that support during the legislative session?

Governor Rick Scott is calling for a special legislative session over Florida's proposed budget, after vetoing $410 million in projects that he feels don't benefit Florida families. We dont have that, so were going to focus on digital and print, ” said Eric Silagy, president and chief executive officer of Florida Power & Light and chairman of Enterprise Floridas Marketing Committee.

During the special session, lawmakers will also pour in enough money to increase the amount spent on each public school student by $100 more. It is a wrecking ball aimed directly at our traditional public schools. "I listened closely to what they had to say, and I understand that both positions have merit". That part also includes $239 million that greatly expands a teacher bonus program known as the Best and Brightest Scholarship. "Our students are the future of our great state and I know Speaker Corcoran is committed to our students, parents and teachers and ensuring Florida offers a world-class education to students at all levels". Pinellas County will have a harder time finding money to fulfill its commitment to improve failing elementary schools in south St. Petersburg, making it even easier for Corcoran's charter school scheme to take root. Scott argues that incentives are critical for job creation in the state.

The cuts include such things as $300,000 for the Historic Gulfview Hotel restoration in Fort Walton Beach; $500,000 for the Miami Downtown Development Authority's Baywalk; $89,435 for repairs to the Port Boca Lighthouse; $3 million for infrastructure improvements at Daytona Beach International Airport; and $4 million for the St. Leo University, Florida Hospital Wellness Center.

The budget, however, allows Enterprise Florida to maintain its worldwide offices and continue foreign trade missions. That money will be used to fund Scott's priorities.

Lawmakers have not yet agreed on how to regulate dispensaries for medical marijuana, which was approved by 71 percent of Florida voters last November.

The state House and Senate must once again vote on the fate of the funding.

The House rejected the Senate plan.

Governor Rick Scott has reached a deal with state lawmakers to hold a special session to discuss education funding, Enterprise Florida and VISIT Florida. If lawmakers do not act, the state Department of Health will establish rules for the industry later this summer.

Scott, chairman of the Enterprise Florida board, has expressed anger with the funding package but hasn't indicated if he'll sign the $82.4 billion budget before a June 15 deadline or detailed the extent of potential vetoes.
