Trump to mark his first 100 days with a rally in Pennsylvania

03 May, 2017, 02:04 | Author: Rickey Alvarado

Even with his return to Pennsylvania, Trump seemed torn between who he was courting. It was the first time Pennsylvania had voted for a Republican presidential candidate since George H.W. Bush in 1988.

Trump was at the factory signing an executive order that will direct the Commerce Department and the USA trade representative to conduct a study of US trade agreements.

During a long rumination on the importance of law and order and keeping "illegals" out of the country, Trump recited AI Wilson's poem The Snake, which he often read out during election rallies.

The president of the White House Correspondents' Association (WHCA) on Saturday pushed back against President Trump's claims that news outlets covering his administration critically are reporting "fake news".

"Mr President, the media is not fake news - let's take that off the table as we proceed", he said. "Where did you hear it first, folks?"

In Pennsylvania, Trump told supporters the media dinner would be boring but was noncommittal on whether he would go in 2018 or hold another rally.

"As you know there is another big gathering tonight", said Trump.

"I hate to see the New Yorkers with streets closed", Trump said.

"Whatever the climate, whether the media is revered or reviled, we should and must persist and I believe we will".

At the 100-day mark, polls show that Trump's supporters during the campaign remain largely in his corner.

On a threshold that Trump has both derided and tried to define, the president also said he is putting Americans first even as he learns on the job. Many of his campaign promises have gone unfulfilled.

This raised the number of President Trump's executive orders to 32 in his first 100 days, more than any newly installed President since Franklin D. Roosevelt.

He added that it's a "great thing to see" that legislators from both sides of the aisle are able to stand together on this. Canadian officials have blamed global dairy overproduction , not Canadian policies, for American dairy farmers' woes.

The meeting follows the leaders' acrimonious January 28 phone call where Mr Trump was upset about the asylum-seeker deal Mr Turnbull struck a year ago with then President Barack Obama.

Washington naively assumed China was "merely a more exotic version of Canada", Lighthizer once testified, and would learn to live within WTO rules and open its market to American exports; instead, China has limited foreign competition, manipulated its currency and subsidized its exporters. "The change on defense has been profound as well".

Trump is turning to what he's billed as the nation's biggest tax cut.

The last time Trump attended the dinner was in 2011, when he was a NY real estate mogul and reality TV star who had just jumped into politics by getting involved in the "birther" movement, calling for President Barack Obama to release his birth certificate. "We're not supposed to be the insane aunt in the attic that nobody knows what is going to do next".

"But we have great relationships with Germany and Japan and China and so many others, the UK".

Forty-two percent of voters polled say they see fake news in national newspapers or network news broadcasts a couple of times or about once a day.

One page of his 100-day manifesto is devoted to legislation he would fight to pass in 100 days.

"Together we are seeing that great achievements are possible when we put American people first", Trump said in his weekly address.

"If I win, I am going to instruct my attorney general to get a special prosecutor to look into your situation because there has never been so many lies, so much deception", Trump promised.

"Support among those who voted for him remains much as it has been".

There were several other protests organised across the country too, including New York, San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, Utica and Syracuse.

Trump also wants to impose a 20 percent tax on Mexican imports and use the proceeds to build the wall on the border with Mexico.
