US officials have told Reuters they have always been concerned about disclosing highly classified intelligence to Trump. "Sharing intelligence with an adversary risks jeopardizing counterterrorism cooperation with partners and undermines USA national security".
And a former intelligence operative who dealt with intelligence on Russian Federation said Trump provided enough clues for the Kremlin to figure out the source of the information.
The feeding frenzy Monday was brought on by a Washington Post report that President Donald Trump revealed highly classified information to Russian officials in a meeting last week.
U.S. officials informed on the matter told the Post that the USA did not have permission to share the intelligence and that the leak jeopardises cooperation with the source, which has "access to the inner workings of the Islamic State".

No other news source has confirmed the information in the Post report, and none of the information has been independently verified.
US reporters were not permitted to cover the meeting.
