Penguins at Blue Jackets

01 May, 2017, 19:55 | Author: Glenda Knight

At least six games, maybe seven was the common belief, but the Blue Jackets have not lived up to their expectations.

The Blue Jackets never gained possession, but there is some gray area. Despite a last-minute injury forcing a change in starting goalie for the Pittsburgh Penguins, they could not rally any offense.

But the Penguins regained their composure and pushed back hard during the second period to tie the score at 3-3.

After a lackluster performance in a 3-1 loss in Game 3, the Rangers came out aggressive early in Game 4. Normally, a team looking to win four straight will need its goalie to steal at least one of those games, and possibly two. For the series, the Jackets have accumulated 133 hits to the Penguins 93 and, of course, trail them in games won, zero to three. Unfortunately, all that aggression still saw them lose the game, as well as lose forward Matt Calvert to a one game suspension.

ST. LOUIS - Jaden Schwartz scored the go-ahead goal in the second period and Jake Allen made 40 saves to lead the St. Louis Blues over the Minnesota Wild on Sunday for a 3-0 lead in their first-round playoff series.

Werenski is back in the game after taking a puck to the face. Pittsburgh has a 2-0 lead in the series, outscoring the Blue Jackets 7-1 in the series thus far. Less than two minutes after Nutivaara's goal, Hornqvist made it 3-1 with a power-play goal at 6:43 of the second.

Fear not, though. Nothing that happened in Game 4 suggests that the Jackets have what it takes to mount a historic comeback.

The Penguins' 22-year-old rookie buried three goals during Sunday's Game 3 against the Blue Jackets, including the game-winner in overtime.

We know the Blue Jackets aren't used to being in the playoffs.

What the Blue Jackets probably didn't expect, however, was to have the Penguins bungle a few defensive-zone decisions, leading to more than a few scoring chances.

Game 4 is Tuesday in Columbus. He now leads the league with four postseason goals - one more than the Wild have managed in three games against the St. Louis Blues. It has not worked.

Montreal 3, N.Y. Rangers 1: Alexander Radulov had a goal and an assist to lead the Canadiens over the Rangers in NY, giving Montreal a 2-1 lead in the first-round playoff series.

Guentzel put the Penguins ahead, 4-3, at 11:48 of the third period, on the power play, when he banked a puck in off Bobrovsky. He let in multiple soft goals again, something that has been a theme for him this series, as well as his entire playoff career.
