Only 25% Americans believe Donald Trump keeps his promises: Opinion poll

01 May, 2017, 19:57 | Author: Rickey Alvarado

Since he took office in January, Donald Trump successfully dodged some questions about Russia's meddling in the election by creating another scheme - accusing Obama of wiretapping his phones in Trump Tower in NY.

And although Trump's election victory was due largely to an intense desire for change in the country's electorate, only 43 percent of people believe he is "draining the swamp" as promised, while 50 percent believe he is failing.

An analysis of Reuters/Ipsos polling data shows slippage in Trump's approval ratings, with lower enthusiasm among white men without a college degree, the core of his political base.

72% of Clinton voters (and 60% of Democrats and Democratic-leaning independents) believe Trump's campaign colluded with Russian Federation in order to influence the 2016 election.

To a reporter from Reuters this week, though, Trump had a slightly different assessment of the presidency.

The Department of Children and Family Services opened two investigations of Gordon for allegations of neglect last month. There was no disturbance, but deputies provided some candy and toys for the children at the house, he said.

While 47 percent of respondents approved of Trump, 52 percent disapproved, according to the survey.

The 44 per cent marker puts Trump last among approval ratings for newly-elected presidents at the 100-day point since modern polling began, a trendline that runs back to Dwight Eisenhower.

By party, 83 percent of Republicans approve but only 10 percent of Democrats approve. I think you'd say that, but I do miss my old life. Ironically, an ABC News/Washington Post poll taken days before the 100-day mark found that 61 percent want to "keep and improve" the Affordable Care Act health insurance program, while 37 percent want to "repeal and replace" it. In the survey, 42 percent said they strongly approve of the job he is doing as president while 51 percent said they somewhat approve. Now, it appears that Trump may have actually made a mistake in outlining things with such clarity because it only gives his critics very strong ammunition to bombard him with if he fails to deliver on some or numerous promises he has made. Large majorities disapprove of the entry ban on visitors from six Muslim states that is now stalled in the courts, building the wall against Mexico and refusing Syrian refugees entry into the U.S.

Overall, views of Trump are highly polarized and partisan, as they always have been.

A recent Fox News Poll contains similarly inauspicious findings for the president.
