Sony cuts ties with embattled producer Dr. Luke

  • Sony Music Splits from Producer Dr

This morning it was revealed Lukasz Gottwald, or Dr. Luke, has been let go from his other position as CEO of Kemosabe Records, a subsidiary of Sony.

Well, not necessarily. Apparently, it was a worry for Kesha that Sony was about to end its deal with Dr. Luke (aka Lukasz Gottwald), because that meant that the company could no longer act as an intermediary.

Nevertheless, in October 2014, Kesha came forward to accuse Dr. Luke of once forcing her to take a date-rape drug and then proceeding to take advantage of her in a hotel room.

Luke has been removed as CEO of Kemosabe Records, the Sony-owned label he started in 2011. Last week, Kesha filed a notice of appeal on a nixed bid to impose California's seven-year limit on personal service contracts - marking the third pending appeal in this Kesha-Luke dispute before a NY appeals court. The singer later dropped the case to concentrate on defending herself against the NY lawsuit and on restarting her music career.

Last spring, there were reports that Sony was looking to part ways with the producer in response to months of public pressure as the contentious legal clash with Kesha continued.

Siren wails as Israel marks annual Holocaust Remembrance Day
And on Monday, which marks Israel's annual Holocaust Remembrance Day, the focus is on bolstering that count before it's too late. They were murdered by an evil that words can not describe, and that the human heart can not bear.

However, Page Six obtained a statement from Linda Carbone, Dr. Luke's rep, that indicated that Sony had not severed ties the producer. The producer's defamation case against Kesha remains open, with his lawyers continuing to collect evidence about how his own career has suffered in the wake of the allegations. "But allowing Kesha to make music outside Dr. Luke's presence does not free her from her abuser's control". The 30-year-old who is still under contract with Dr. Luke had initially tried to escape the deal.

Even though this might seem like good news for Kesha, we're not sure that it actually nullifies her contract with the producer.

Kesha's attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

In June 2015, a judge put Kesha's California case on hold after ruling that the NY case took precedent.
