Nintendo Set New Records With Switch's First Month Of US Sales

19 April, 2017, 11:20 | Author: Randy Kelley

Nintendo said that it sold 906,000 Switch units in the USA alone for the month of March, GamesSpot says, which makes the Switch the fastest-selling console in Nintendo's history. It's sold out at many stores, and Nintendo is struggling to keep up with demand. The console was released when there are uncertainties of Nintendo's future as a console manufacturer, especially after the failure of Switch's predecessor, Wii U. There were even some rumors that pointed the dissatisfaction from Japanese investors and shareholders as they wanted the company to focus more on the growing mobile gaming market. The remaining copies were sold for the company's last console, the Wii U.

The Nintendo Switch sales are going on strong.

Those numbers come from the NPD group and Nintendo, which report that while the Switch sold 906,000 units in the U.S. in March, the Switch version of Breath of the Wild sold "more than 925,000 units".

It has been over a month since the launch of Nintendo Switch, which also outsold PS4 and Xbox One for the month of March, and now a report has emerged suggesting Nintendo will launch a Nintendo Switch mini in its fiscal year 2018.

Sai Praneeth Scripts Maiden Super Series Final Win
This was Tai's 25th successive victory, spread over five months, and earned her a fifth straight title. The Korean managed to reduce the deficit to 4-10 before the Indian entered the break with a 11-4 lead.

Just a few days after the Switch launched, the company released similar figures heralding the console as the "best-selling new system" in the annals of Nintendo history. Internally, Nintendo had previously sold 400,000 consoles during its first week of sale in 2012 while the Wii sold 600,000.

Nintendo says this unusual result may be because people "purchased both a limited edition of the game to collect and a second version to play". The console is also sold out in parts of Europe and Japan.

Of course, stocks are still low deep into April, with Nintendo saying that they are "working to make sure everyone who wants a system is able to buy one, and more systems are continually being shipped".
